🔊 Why is my AED Beeping? (Troubleshooting Guide)

If your AED is chirping or the status indicator is RED or has a X, it likely needs a new battery.

⚠️ WARNING: A “Beeping” AED is Not Rescue Ready.
Most AED batteries last 4-5 Years in standby mode. If you haven’t replaced yours since 2021, it is likely critical.

How to Check Your Battery Status:

  • Philips OnSite/FRx: Look for the flashing green light. If it’s not flashing, press the blue “i” button for voice instructions.
  • Zoll AED Plus: Check the status window for a green checkmark ✔️. If you see a red X, replace the batteries immediately.
  • Cardiac Science G3/G5: Ensure the “Rescue Ready” indicator is Green. If it is Red/Black, the battery is dead.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use Duracell batteries in my AED?
Only for the Zoll AED Plus. The Zoll AED Plus uses 10 consumer-grade Duracell Lithium 123A batteries. For all other brands (Philips, Cardiac Science, Defibtech), you MUST use the specific proprietary battery pack designed for that device.
Q: How do I dispose of old AED batteries?
AED batteries contain Lithium and should not be thrown in the trash. Please use our Free Battery Recycling Program to dispose of them safely.
