⚡ Troubleshooting: Is Your Defibtech AED Beeping?
If your yellow Defibtech AED is chirping, do not panic. It is usually one of two issues:
- The 9V Battery is Dead: Inside the main battery pack, there is a small square 9V battery that powers the self-tests. If this dies, the AED will chirp. (We include a new one with this pack).
- The Main Battery is Dead: If the main DBP-1400 battery pack is older than 5 years, it must be replaced. Check the date on the side label.
⚠️ CHECK YOUR PADS:
Defibtech pads expire every 2 years. If your battery is 5 years old, your pads are definitely expired. Do not forget to order them.

Frequently Asked Questions
My battery says “Defibtech DCF-200 battery” but this is “DBP-1400”. Will it fit?
Yes! They are the exact same battery. DCF-200 is the part number printed on the physical label. DBP-1400 is the catalog number for the box. They are 100% interchangeable.
How do I perform a “Defibtech Lifeline AED Check Battery” test?
Once you slide the new battery in, the AED will automatically run a self-test. You do not need to press any buttons. Look for the Active Status Indicator (ASI) on the front corner. If it is flashing GREEN, the battery is good and the device is rescue-ready.
What is the difference between the 5-Year and 7-Year High Capacity battery?
The primary difference is the standby life and discharge capacity. The DBP-1400 (also known as the DCF-200) is the standard battery with a 5-year standby life, while the High Capacity model (DBP-2800 is designed for 7 years of standby.
How many shocks can each battery provide? The 5-year DBP-1400 is rated for up to 125 shocks, which is more than enough for standard emergency use. The 7-year High Capacity version is much more robust, offering up to 300 shocks, making it better for high-traffic areas or professional rescue teams.
Do both batteries include the 9V lithium battery? Yes, both models typically include a replaceable 9V lithium battery. This smaller battery is crucial because it powers the AED’s daily self-tests, ensuring the main battery pack isn’t drained just from checking itself.
Are they the same physical size? No. The 7-year High Capacity battery is physically larger and heavier than the standard DBP-1400. While both fit the standard Defibtech Lifeline and Lifeline Auto models, the extra weight of the 7-year version is something for users to consider if they carry the AED in a lightweight bag.
