Is Your Zoll AED Plus Beeping?

If your Zoll AED Plus is chirping or has a Red “X” in the status window, your batteries are dead. You need to replace them immediately to ensure your device is ready for a rescue.

The “Secret” Zoll Doesn’t Tell You: The Zoll AED Plus runs on standard off-the-shelf Duracell batteries. If you buy the “Official” replacement kit (Part 8000-0807-01), you are paying over $100 just to get these same batteries inside a cardboard sleeve.

✅ The Smart Choice: Save $40+

We sell the Duracell Ultra 123A Lithium Batteries directly. These are the exact same batteries found in the official kit, fresh from the factory. You get the same 5-year life and the same performance, without paying for the fancy box.

🚚 PLUS: This Item Ships FREE.

Why Duracell Matters (Critical)

The Zoll AED Plus firmware is calibrated specifically for Duracell Lithium batteries. Using other brands (like Panasonic or Rayovac) can cause the AED to fail its self-test or report inaccurate battery levels.

We only sell the OEM-specified Duracell Type 123 Lithiums.

ℹ️ Important Note on the “Sleeve”

These batteries come in a shrink-wrapped brick, not the Zoll-branded cardboard sleeve. You do not need the sleeve. You can simply load these 10 batteries directly into the AED slots.

📅 Did You Check Your Pads?

Zoll Batteries and Pads expire at the same time (every 5 years). If your batteries are dead, your pads are likely expired too.

How to Change Zoll AED Plus Batteries (Step-by-Step)

Changing the batteries in a Zoll AED Plus is different from other devices. You must follow this exact sequence to reset the internal computer, or the device will continue to beep.

🛠️ What You Need:

  • Your Zoll AED Plus unit
  • 10 New Duracell 123A Lithium Batteries (Do not mix old and new)
  • A flat-head screwdriver (to remove the back cover)

The Installation Process

Step 1: Open the Battery Compartment

Turn the AED over. Use a flat-head screwdriver or a coin to loosen the four screws on the back battery cover. Lift the cover off and set it aside.

Step 2: Remove Old Batteries

Remove all 10 of the old batteries. Do not install the new ones yet.

Step 3: The “30-Second Rule” (Critical)

Wait at least 30 seconds with the battery compartment empty. This allows the AED’s internal capacitor to fully drain. If you skip this step, the AED may not recognize the new batteries.

Step 4: Load the New Batteries

Insert the 10 new Duracell batteries into the slots. Pay close attention to the polarity (+/-) markings.

Step 5: Listen and Press the Button

As soon as the last battery is inserted, the AED will start talking. It will say:

“If new batteries, press the button.”

Locate the small button inside the battery compartment (usually near the bottom right). Press it immediately.

Step 6: Verify the Green Check

Replace the battery cover and tighten the screws. Turn the AED over and look at the status window on the front handle. You should see a Green Check Mark (or a circle depending on the model year). If you see a Red X, repeat the steps.
