The short answer is no. Defibtech manufactures two distinct lines of AEDs—the original Lifeline and the Lifeline VIEW—and their batteries are completely different in shape, voltage, and function. Installing the wrong battery means your AED will not be Rescue Ready.

The Original Defibtech Lifeline (The Yellow Unit)

The original Defibtech Lifeline and Lifeline AUTO are easily recognizable by their bright yellow bodies and black rubberized handles. They do not have a digital screen; instead, they rely on audio prompts and indicator lights.

The Battery System: The original Lifeline series uses a highly unique two-battery system:

• The Main Battery Pack: A large 5-year or 7-year lithium battery (Part numbers DBP-1400 or DBP-2800) that powers the life-saving shock.

• The 9V Lithium Battery: A standard 9V lithium battery slides into a smaller slot inside the main battery pack. This smaller battery powers the AED’s daily self-tests and the flashing status indicator light.

Note: If your original Lifeline unit is “chirping,” it often just needs the smaller 9V battery replaced, rather than the expensive main pack.

The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW (The Unit with the Screen)

The Lifeline VIEW (along with the ECG and PRO models) revolutionized the industry by featuring a full-color, interactive video display that walks responders step-by-step through a rescue.

The Battery System: Because of the digital screen, the Lifeline VIEW utilizes a completely different, specialized 4-year power source. It does not use a separate 9V battery for self-tests. The single battery pack handles both the daily diagnostic checks and the power needed to deliver a shock.

If your unit has the digital video screen, you specifically need the Defibtech DCF-2003 / DCB-2003 Replacement Battery Pack.

This compact, 4-year lithium battery provides up to 125 shocks or 8 hours of continuous operating time. Because it powers the video screen as well as the diagnostic tests, it must be replaced immediately when it expires or when the AED indicates a low battery status.
