How It Works
When you insert the key into the FRx, the AED automatically:
- Reduces Energy: Lowers the shock energy to a safe level for infants/children.
- Adjusts Coaching: Changes the voice instructions to pediatric CPR protocols (15:2 breath ratio).
- Changes Icon: The pad placement icons on the screen change to show proper child placement (Front/Back).
Installation Guide

Find the key slot on the front center of the HeartStart FRx AED.

Insert Key
Push the Pink Key firmly into the slot. The AED will beep to confirm.
3️⃣
Rescue
Listen to the voice prompts. The AED is now in Pediatric Mode.

Q: Does this key ever expire?
A: No. The Infant/Child Key is a reusable accessory. It has no expiration date and does not need to be replaced unless lost or damaged.
Q: Do I need to buy special pediatric pads too?
A: No! That is the benefit of the FRx. You use the standard adult SMART Pads II for the child. The Key handles the energy reduction.
Q: Will this fit the HeartStart OnSite (HS1)?
