Follow this sequence to replace the cartridge and reset your HeartStart AED’s internal computer.
The Clean Reset Sequence
- Press the Blue “i” Button: If the AED is chirping, press the flashing blue information button to allow the machine to verbally confirm the error (e.g., “Replace Pads”).
- Release Old Cartridge: Locate the latch at the top edge of the AED and slide it to the side to release and eject the expired cartridge.
- Disengage Power (If Chirping Persists): Remove the M5070A battery from the back of the unit and wait exactly 30 seconds for the internal memory to clear.
- Insert New Pads: Insert the new M5072A cartridge into the well on the front of the unit until it clicks firmly into place. Do not pull the green handle.
- Reinstall Battery & Test: Reinsert the battery. The AED will run a self-test and state “Self-Test Passed,” returning the status light to a flashing green.
