Is your Philips AED chirping every 30 seconds?

If your AED is making a noise, it is trying to tell you something is wrong. You need to fix it so the machine is ready for an emergency. Generally it is beeping because your Philips M5070A battery is low or the M5071A pads are expired.

Here is the simple way to find the problem and stop the noise.

Step 1: Press the Flashing Blue Button

You don’t need to guess. The AED will tell you exactly what is wrong.

  1. Look at the front of the AED.

  2. Find the Blue “i” Button. It should be flashing.

  3. Press it once.

The machine will speak to you. It will say something like “Low Battery” or “Replace Pads.”

Step 2: Check the Sound Chart

Match the sound you hear to the fix below:

  • 1 Beep (Every 30 secs): This usually means Low Battery.

    • The Fix: Get a new M5070A Battery.

  • 1 Beep (Every 30 secs): This can also mean Old Pads.

    • The Fix: Get new M5071A Pads.

  • 3 Beeps (Beep-Beep-Beep): This means a Broken Unit.

    • The Fix: STOP. Call Philips Support immediately. Do not use this AED.

Step 3: The “Hard Reset”

If you replaced the battery or pads and it is still beeping, try resetting the computer inside:

  1. Take the battery out.

  2. Wait 30 seconds.

  3. Put the battery back in until it clicks.

  4. The AED will run a test.

  5. If it says “Self-Test Passed” and the green light flashes, you are fixed.

Step 4: Is it too Cold?

Temperature causes beeping.

If your AED is left in a cold car or a hot shed, it will chirp to warn you. Bring the AED inside to room temperature. Wait 1 hour, then do the “Hard Reset” (Step 3). This usually stops the noise.
