Keeping your AED ready to respond in an emergency starts with a reliable power source. If you have a Defibtech Lifeline AED (model DDU-100 or DDU-120), replacing the battery is one of the simplest — yet most important — steps in maintaining it.

In this quick guide, we’ll walk you through how to replace the DBP-1400 battery pack so your AED stays mission-ready.

Need a replacement? Order a genuine Defibtech DBP-1400 battery pack with the best expiration dates.

What You’ll Need

  • A new Defibtech DBP 1400 battery pack (also labeled DCF-200)

  • Your Lifeline AED unit

Make sure your battery is genuine, FDA-approved, and not expired. Always buy from a trusted source like AEDLAND to ensure reliability.

Step-by-Step: Replacing the DBP-1400 Battery

1. Check Power Status

Your Lifeline AED is normally powered off. If it’s on, press and hold the green power button to turn it off.

2. Flip the Unit Over

Turn the AED so the back panel faces up. The yellow plastic section that forms the rear of the device is the battery pack.

3. Release the Old Battery

Gently press the two side tabs inward and pull the battery outward. It will slide free from the unit.

4. Insert the New Battery

Align the new DBP-1400 battery pack with the battery compartment and slide it into place until you hear a click. This sound confirms it’s securely locked in.

5. Wait for the Self-Test

Once installed, the AED automatically runs a self-check. You may hear voice prompts or see the indicator light begin to flash.

6. Confirm the AED is Ready

A green flashing light means your AED is functioning correctly. If the light is red or the unit beeps, double-check the battery is installed properly or refer to the user manual.

When Should You Replace the Battery?

Replace the DBP-1400 battery:

  • Every 4 to 5 years, depending on the expiration date

  • Immediately after use in a rescue situation

  • If your AED signals a low battery warning (via flashing red light or beeping tone)

We recommend keeping a spare DBP-1400 battery in high-traffic or high-risk locations like schools, gyms, and first responder vehicles.
